Brunswick Schools and Colleges

Brunswick's student population is served by several schools located in and around town, including Brunswick High School, Maine Region 10 Technical High School, Brunswick Junior High School, Longfellow School, Coffin School, Jordan Acres School, and Hawthorne School. Several private schools are also available throughout the community.

The town of Brunswick is the home of Bowdoin College, a private, liberal arts college that was ranked 6th among liberal arts colleges in the country by U.S. News and World Report in 2010. Thirty-three majors and four additional minors are offered at Bowdoin, which has a student population of approximately 1,700 and a student-faculty ratio of 9:1. Other nearby colleges and universities include the University of Southern Maine in neighboring Portland; University of Maine at Augusta; Saint Josephs College in Standish; and the University of New England in Biddeford.

Brunswick fosters a pro-business environment and is home to such major companies and manufacturers like Owens Corning, LL Bean, and Bath Iron Works. Healthcare services and composite manufacturing companies can also be found scattered throughout the community. But what really draws new and up-and-coming businesses to the area is the town's location along the coast of Maine. It will also be easier than ever to connect to neighboring Portland and even Boston, Massachusetts from Brunswick once the Amtrak Downeaster is completed in 2012. Additionally, with the closing and redevelopment of the Naval Air Station Brunswick military base, redevelopment for Brunswick Landing will soon begin. Brunswick Landing will be touted as the state's premier technology business park with over 2 million square feet of industrial and commercial space, promising more jobs and employment opportunities.
